Khat Muharat of Conversion of 66 KVA Overhead Towers & HT Lines into Underground Cabling in the Residential & Commercial Areas of Vapi Industrial Estate on 20.2.2022

Vapi Industries Association (VIA) has been representing for the shifting of the 3 Nos. of 66 KV Overhead Lines & Towers passing through the residential & commercial areas and parallel to the NH No. 48 since the year 2009 to the concerned Ministers and Government Authorities, in fact a survey has also been conducted jointly by GIDC and Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Ltd. (GETCO) in the year 2008 itself for the said work and a estimate of Rs. 27.15 Crores was also prepared. During the year it was observed that the work is being done for only 1 of the said 3 Nos. of 66 KV Lines by spending Rs. 10.49 Crores, which was contributed by GIDC. VIA brought the same to the notice of the MD, Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd. (GUVNL) in the year 2012 and requested for shifting of the remaining 2 Lines but nothing has happened even after repeated representations, then in the year 2016 GETCO submitted a revised estimate of around Rs. 20 Crores for shifting of the remaining lines but still the work didn’t materialized, the matter was then also brought to the notice of Shri Kanubhai Desai, then MLA, Pardi and request was made to pursue the matter with the concerned. Despite all this effort the work was pending until Shri Kanubhai Desai became the Hon’ble Minister of Finance, Energy and Petrochemicals, Govt. of Gujarat in the month of October 2021. On the request of the Senior Members Shri Kanubhai took the matter on priority and the work was taken on war footing by the departments. The revised estimate of amount Rs. 22 Crores was prepared and under the guidance of Shri Kanubhai it was decided that GIDC will bear 40% of the project cost and remaining 60% will come as financial assistance under the AII (Assistance for Industrial Infrastructure). GIDC then paid their contribution of Rs. 8.57 Crore for conversion of 66 KV Vapi GIDC Line No. 1 & 2 (3 Kms length) and 66 KV Vapi 3rd & 4th Phase Line (2 Kms length) into underground cabling.

Shri Kamleshbhai did the welcome of all the dignitaries and members, industrialists and press & media members, thereafter floral welcome was given by the Officer Bearers, Power Committee Members of VIA, RM, GIDC, Vapi, CO, NAA and Addl. Chief Engineer, GETCO to Shri Kanubhai. Shri Yogeshbhai then gave the brief of the project and expressed how with the support and cooperation of Shri Kanubhai this has been materialized within 4 months after pursuing of over 10 years. He also informed the present that the important and log awaited projects like Conversion of Overhead Electrical Lines into Underground Cabling in the Residential Areas, Establishment of Sports Complex etc. been approved and on the verge of implementation with the selfless effort, support and guidance of Shri Kanubhai. He said that he is hopeful that all the major issues of the Industries and Citizens of Vapi Industrial Estate will get resolved during the tenure of Shri Kanubhai Desai as Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, Govt. of Gujarat.
Shri Rohitbhai Sompura then thanked Shri Kanubhai for his effort in successfully implementing this long pending work, he then informed all the present that the work of CC Lining of Bilkhadi and connection of Drainage Line of GIDC Char Rasta has also been taken up and likely to be completed shortly under the guidance of Shri Kanubhai.
Shri Kanubhai during his speech said that he finds it his responsibility to do the works as informed by Shri Yogeshbhai and Shri Rohitbhai, as he is the elected representative of this area and people have elected him with the hope that he will resolve the issues of this area. He then thanked the Team of VIA for their continuous support and cooperation in all major works planned for the well being of the Industries and Citizens of this Estate.
Shri P P Munsif then delivered the Vote of Thanks and during the same he also informed that the work of conversion of the 66 KV Overhead Lines into Underground Cabling is likely to be completed before monsoon itself so that the Industries Members and Residents does not face any hardship due to the ongoing work.
