Webinar – Environment Clinic on Hazardous Waste on 16.9.2020

World Ozone Day is celebrated worldwide on 16th September 2020 and VIA is also celebrating the World Ozone Day every year jointly with Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) and Vapi Green Enviro Ltd. (VGEL). Considering the present situation due to COVID 19, this year VIA, GPCB and VGEL has organized a Webinar - Online Environment Clinic on Hazardous Waste on 17th September 2020 as part of the World Environment Day Celebration. This webinar was held in the presence of Shri Prakash Bhadra, President, VIA, Shri Satish Patel, Hon. Secretary, VIA, Shri Hemang Naik, Jt. Secretary, VIA, Shri Rajul Shah, Chairman, Environment Committee, VIA, Shri Kalpesh Vora, Chairman, Green Society, VIA, Shri V D Sivdasan, President, Sarigam Industries Association (SIA) and Shri B R Gajjar, RO, GPCB, Vapi. The Webinar was attended by over 100 industries members and their employees. During his welcome speech Shri Prakashbhai appealed to all the present to maintain and strictly follow all the guidelines of the Government to maintain safety and health. He further said that there is acute shortage of resources worldwide and therefore we need to take continuous guidance from technical experts and follow their advices and suggestions. Shri Sivdasan welcomed all the present and said that SIA and its industries members are always following and abiding the Government norms and rules. He then enquired certain things about safe disposal of Hazardous Waste which was satisfactorily answered by Shri Gajjar. Shri Rajulbhai Shah then informed about the plan to establish an Acid Bank to facilitate recycling of Hazardous Waste. Shri B R Gajjar then gave awareness to all the present about the guidelines for Waste generation, transportation, recycling, storage disposal including the medical waste like used hand gloves, masks under the present COVID 19 scenario. He also informed all about the necessity to put display board at industries as suggested under the Rule 9 and present order issued by the Hon’ble National Green Tribunal. Thereafter during the interaction session with the participants Shri Gajjar satisfactorily responded to the queries of the participants. The participants also appreciated the event and requested to hold this type of events regularly.
